On February 29, 2012, the 2011-2012 Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) results were released to students across the city.

• If you got into a SHSAT school, which one and with what score? (Help us update our SHSAT cutoffs article and help future SHSAT takers!)
• Did you study a lot for the SHSAT? Looking back, do you think your studying was worth it?
• Are you looking forward to entering a SHSAT school this fall? Nervous? Scared?
• Eighth graders- will you try the SHSAT again next year?

Each one of the eight SHSAT schools has an open house for prospective eighth and ninth grade students every fall. During these open houses, the various specialized high schools disucuss their offerings, allow you to tour their buildings, and meet their staff. No reservations are required for any of these open houses. Below are the open house dates for each of the SHSAT schools for students who are applying for the 2012-2013 school year:

The Bronx High School of Science

• Date: October 25, 2011
• Time: to be announced, check back later

The Brooklyn Latin School

• Date: October 27, 2011
• Time: 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M.

Brooklyn Technical High School

• Date: October 26, 2011
• Time: 6:00 P.M to 8:30 P.M.

High School for Mathematics, Science and Engineering at the City College

• Date: October 19, 2011
• Time: 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M.

High School of American Studies at Lehman College

• Date: October 11, 2011
• Time: 5:30 P.M to 7:30 P.M.

Queens High School for the Sciences at York College (This open house will be begin at the Performance Arts Center of York College (94-45 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. Jamaica, NY  11451).)

• Date: October 4, 2011
• Time: approximately 5:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Staten Island Technical High School

• Date: October 5, 2011
• Time: 7:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M.

Stuyvesant High School

• Date: October 13, 2011
• Time: 5:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M.

The Specialized High Schools Student Handbook, or the SHSAT handbook, is published every year by the New York City Department of Education. The latest edition of the SHSAT handbook is handed out in June to all seventh graders in New York City public schools. The SHSAT handbook is also distributed at the New York City Public High School Fair, which is held in October. In addition, the SHSAT handbook is published online.
